Lagos—Lagos State Police command says no arrest has
been made with respect to the cults’ war in
Bariga last week that led to the death of a teenager, Rilwan Kokumo, and the destruction of properties and burning of houses by hoodlums in the area.
It will be recalled that on Tuesday at about 9pm unidentified cultists led by one Ololade Michael reportedly stormed Ibukulolu Street in Bariga where they shot dead a teenager who just gained admission into Yaba College of education.
Although no arrest has been made, Lagos state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joe Offor, said the police were on the trail of the killers.
He said: “Investigations are still ongoing to unravel the circumstances that led to the death of the teenager, Rilwan Kokumo, and the burning of houses by hoodlums in the area.”
It was learned that the deceased, Rilwan Kokumo, was with his friend Tevez when the cultist attacked them and he was shot several times, it was reported that while he died on the spot, his friend, Tevez, escaped with gunshot wounds.
According to an eyewitness, Emma Fadipe, “When the rival gang discovered what happened, they used the opportunity of kokumo’s death to burn down the house of one of the suspects’ grandparents.”
The fire lasted for about three hours and goods worth millions were destroyed. Although, the shops outside the buildings and a room of one Unilag graduate now on service were not affected. Ololade just came back from prison before the recent attack.
When Vanguard visited the deceased’s house, at 37 street Fimbar road, his devastated mother was still in tears.
