Nanny Who Butchered Employers Gets 20 Years

Hui Zhang says she was acting in self-defence after her employers attacked her over the death of their young son in her care.

 

A Chinese nanny who killed and cut up her employers has been jailed for 20 years by a court in Paris.

Hui Zhang admitted killing the couple after their two-month-old son died in her care.

The 34-year-old claimed she was acting in self-defence after Ying Wang and Liangsi Xui attacked her and her boyfriend with a butcher's knife.

She told the court it happened during a furious row after she informed them the boy had died in his sleep.
"It's true, I killed them, and I will regret it for the rest of my life," Hui said.
Her boyfriend Te Lu, also 34, pleaded not guilty to murder, saying he was knocked unconscious during the scuffle, and was acquitted.
"I was sucked into a whirlwind of nightmares, but I am innocent," he said.
After killing her employers, Hui dragged their bodies into the bathroom, where she cut them up with an electric saw.
The court heard Te woke in time to help her put the parts into rubbish bags.
The couple dumped them and then fled to China, but later returned to France.
Police said this was because they feared the death penalty in their home country.
Hui and Te turned themselves in after parts of the victims' bodies were discovered in June 2012 in the Vincennes forest on the edge of Paris.
The body of the child, which was also discarded in the rubbish, was never found, however.
Hui said she had thrown it into bins along with some of the other remains.
Hui and Te, a business adviser, have been living in France since 2004.
Investigators described Hui as highly intelligent and the more dominant of the pair.
