The incident is said to have happened at a 13th-century site which has pyramid-shaped temples.
Canadian singer Justin Bieber and his
entourage were ordered from an archaeological site in Mexico after he
apparently tried to climb onto the ruins, an official has said.
The official at the National Institute of Anthropology and History spoke on condition of anonymity.
He said the incident happened on Thursday at the 13th-century Mayan site of Tulum on Mexico's Caribbean coast.
The official could not reveal which of the structures Bieber had allegedly breached, but said he was "asked to leave".

Visitors are allowed on some pre-Hispanic pyramids in
Mexico, but those considered vulnerable are either roped off or have 'no
entry' signs on them.
The controversy came as Bieber, 21, was confirmed to be the
first artist to occupy the top three spots of the British singles chart.
Love Yourself was at number one for a fifth week, followed by Sorry at number two and What Do You Mean at three.

John Lennon in 1981 with Imagine, Happy Xmas (War Is Over) and (Just
Like) Starting Over following his killing.
Bieber has caused a number of upsets in Latin America in recent years.
In 2013, he upset Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto when he said he had met him and his family before a show.
He later corrected himself in a tweet, saying he had been introduced to them at a "meet and greet".
The same year, Bieber abandoned a concert in Buenos Aires after complaining of food poisoning.
He reportedly told the audience: "I’m not feeling too good, I think I’m out of energy."
A week earlier he ended a concert early in Brazil, walking off the stage after being hit with a plastic bottle.
